ASSESSMENT
I will conduct initial standardized and informal assessments to:
• Evaluate a student’s overall literacy development
• Identify their strengths and areas for improvement
• Understand their perceptions of reading
• Explore their background experiences in reading and writing
Based on these assessments, I will recommend an instructional plan and provide an individualized report that highlights the child’s educational needs. This report will:
• Address the identified concerns
• Be shared with the student’s teacher
I will collaborate with the teacher to ensure our findings are communicated and effectively implemented in the classroom.

TEACHING
One-on-One Tutoring
I provide instruction and support to school-aged students struggling with reading and writing. Using evidence-based reading strategies, I help students become successful readers. With new strategies and increased self-confidence, students will start to enjoy reading and show consistent progress.
I use a personalized approach tailored to each student’s unique needs, building on their strengths. My primary goal is to engage students through authentic and meaningful reading and writing experiences.
Following an initial consultation and assessment, I create a literacy profile and design a customized instructional program. All lessons are crafted to ensure students experience a high level of success. Instructional goals are regularly reviewed and adjusted to track progress and plan for effective teaching.
Reading instruction is systematic and explicit, focusing on phonemic awareness, phonics, orthographic processing, fluency, vocabulary, and language comprehension. Instruction is integrated with reading stories and informational texts, where these skills are applied in context.

ROLE OF PARENTS

Parents play a crucial role in their children’s literacy development. They are encouraged to actively participate in shared reading experiences at home. With my guidance, I will offer parents instruction and a range of strategies to help support their child’s reading progress at home.
